SUSTAINABILITY
This year, the theme of Tropical Pressure is Biodiversity - in all its forms - and this will be reflected in all areas from the decor, to the talks in the Movements area, and the workshops all over the weekend.
Here at Tropical Pressure we care about many things when we plan our event.
Not just about the experience, the party, the vibes and the rhythms; we care about creating a conscious celebration that appreciates the diversity of our people, our cultures and the natural world around us.
But at times the things we care about conflict with each other and we have to make difficult decisions. Our colourful, wonderful, vibrant party on the beautiful Cornish coast has an impact on the environment of our immediate and wider world.
So to help us build our party in the best way possible, we have created this ‘Green Policy’ to help guide our decision making.
Here are Tropical Pressure’s aims:
- We will strive to limit our negative impacts on the natural world around us. And, where we can, we will go one step further and try to make those impacts positive.
- We will underpin our decisions with science and fact and will continue our learning. We may not always get it right, but we will always assess, evaluate and then try to do better.
- Sustainability will always be our priority.
We are committed to reducing and balancing the environmental impact of travel to the festival.
This year, we have partnered with onboard:earth, a charitable organisation working with live music organisers to tackle travel impacts at live events and use a carbon balancing charge to fund environmental restoration around the world.
Every Vehicle Pass purchased for Tropical Pressure includes an onboard:earth carbon balancing fee of £1.50 for cars and £3 for live-in vehicles. It helps fund certified projects that offset the emissions from vehicle travel to and from the site.
