Roots Arena - Sunday 14th July

The Bongo Hop is a brilliant Afro-Caribbean project forged between France and Colombia by trumpeter Etienne Sevet. On their first album Satingarona pt 1, Etienne gathered friends from his Colombian years, like vocalist Nidia Gongora (the voice of Ondatropica and Quantic), rapper Maikcel (Zalama crew), and famous producer & multinstrumentalist Patchworks (Voilaaa, Taggy Matcher, Uptown Funk Empire) to create a kind of musical travel diary celebrating his 8 years as a Cali resident.

Now their follow-up, Satingarona pt 2 is getting the global praise and attention it deserves. Featuring new collaborators, like Parisian impromptu MC Greg Frite, Haitian singer Kephny Eliacin, Cindy Pooch and fresh young talent Laurene Pierre-Magnani, it’s a multicultural musical ocean of an album, with sounds of Caribbean punk, .desert rock and funk-fuelled electronica.

On stage, The Bongo Hop is the equivalent of a tropical storm served with hot brass, infectious afro grooves, electric sounds, and heavenly vocals.
